Compiling this month’s chart was particularly tough because of the volume of great music I’ve been receiving and purchasing. I’m still getting used to handling a busy inbox :) I’ve been reading a lot of the submissions and listening to the tracks and there’s about 3-4 cd’s I’d also like the review…Kevin Saunderson ‘Elevate’ lp, Vincent Cassanova’s ‘Hyperspacial Landscape’ and erm, a few others…

Bloody Bloody Disco

bloodydisco

Here I am again. I’ve finally found some spare time for a new post. Most of you know that I always love to throw some new names out there. This week I came across some really interesting tunes. To be honest I had never heard of this guy before. Dear readers this post is all about Bloody Disco! He’s born in France, now living in Australia and apparently killing dancefloors in Syndey’s leading clubs. Bloody Disco started off his music journey as a guitarist of the hardcore metal band Ground Zero. Now that sounds promising, don’t you think. You’re about to find out how this musical background influences his sound. BLOODY DISCO it is! Now who loves it dirty?

artwort ‘Hocus Pocus’ by Craig Shields

depthCORE has released a new chapter full of some of the best digital artists’ work. This time they’ve given their interpretation of the theme called HER.

Consisting of a large selection of songs, photographs and illustrations, ‘HER’ is an inspired and considered response from their artists, produced over a six month period and encompassing many of the myriad concepts associated with their broad thematic selection. As a collective, they embarked on an extended creative voyage to examine and represent ideas and realities like maternity, romance, the modern heroine, vulnerability and, of course, beauty.

Enjoy HER.

The Sound of Young Malmö

I know I’ve been so busy lately. And I have got so much to share with you guys. I’ve like 20-30 really awesome tunes floating around in my mailbox waiting to be posted. I’m going to do my best to filter the most amazing for our dear readers. Starting with this.

Adrian Recordings:
Malmö is the techno Berlin of Sweden. All the late night illegal clubs pumping steady bass drums, speaks for themselves. What happen if you take Malmö’s 3 best underground youngsters and team them up with legendary Andreas Tilliander? You get the best of the best. The freshest of the fresh.

That’s right. FRESH! They’re talking about: Per Hammar, known from his Blockbuster Ep on Playectra Records. Staffan Lindberg, apparently everybody knows him out there. And last but not least Karachi with his quite atmospheric version.  Download all the 3 high quality remixes at Adrian Recordings.

Here’s the Staffan remix for those who’re not heading to Adrian yet.

Mutekism.

No Comments Techno

On Friday I went to check out the Mutek tour, I really enjoyed myself for once in what seems like a long time. I was planning on taking some pictures thinking that there would be some good visuals to capture but i guess to get the whole package I’d have to experience Mutek in Montreal. Apparently over 50% of the attendees are people traveling to attend so there really is something special about it! No complains though really. danksoul and nrmls wlcm put together a fun night.

The major east coast Canadian cities have good communities for electronic music. I think that’s why in the world of Canadian electronic music, most of the good stuff comes from Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, etc. I Was reading a local paper – Vue Weekly, which did an article on mutek. It mentioned basically how eastern Canada is more receptive to electronic music but that maybe people abroad are becoming reinterested in dance music.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Inkwell are from Vancouver, but I guess they are apart of the exception ;) to be honest I didn’t pay much attention to them at first when I picked up the ‘Rain Or Shine‘ EP, but after seeing them live and learning about their story more i instantly felt a stronger connection with them. What sets Inkwell apart for me is their chemistry doing live PA, it’s really brilliant. Look out for releases from Inkwell on Archipel and Wagon Repair.

For those of you that haven’t heard yet, Noise Porn has come up with a wonderful initiative, they will be away this summer driving from London to Mongolia in aid of Save The Children. To help them get there, they’re asking for DJs from all around the world to submit mixes, so they can listen to them non-stop all the way there. That’s over 800 hours of non-stop electronic music. To make a mix (and change a life), head over to www.mongolianmixtapemarathon.com right now! The website launched last night and the mixes are already flooding in. Please be as generous as you can!

DJs who have pledged their support include Krafty Kuts, Ben & Lex, NAPT and Brodinski. The Fat! Club, Fabric and Always Fridays @ The Egg are also getting involved, with Dontstayin.com providing some promotional muscle. Also thanks to Nathan Taylor (our PR guru), Felipe and Ricardo at Solution Nine for building the site, and Subdrive Media for hosting the podcasts.

Now go be generous! Going to get my mix in within the next few days.

Thanks to Noise Porn for this post and this wonderful initiative!

Barletta vs Meech

4 Comments House

Do you feel the summer coming? I do. Thanks to the wonderful weather we had here in Belgium the past few weeks. And also because of this new track that end up in my mailbox a couple of days ago. A straight up house jam by probably one of the best Toronto combination there is. I’m talking about the DJ Barletta remix he did for his Toronto home boy Meech.
